Marine Policy Update

Last year, M.E.E.R., together with other marine conservation organizations, developed the paper “MEERESPOLITIK 2025.” This was recently presented to staff members of ministries in the new federal government as well as to members of the Bundestag, in order to signal that marine conservation is a system-relevant issue—without which we cannot tackle the challenges of climate change and species extinction. The paper provides impulses for transformation, with clear guidelines for a marine policy that unites ecological responsibility with societal sustainability. It is an invitation to dialogue and a contribution toward the development of effective measures to firmly anchor the protection of the oceans as a central component of marine policy in Germany.
