Confluence – Europe’s Waterways Gathered in Berlin.
From September 3 to 6, international representatives of the “Rights of Nature” movement gathered in the German capital. Representatives from dozens of rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water discussed with conference guests—including Fabian Ritter from M.E.E.R.—the possibilities for recognizing the rights of natural areas within national legal systems. Numerous workshops explored both the challenges of such processes and the great potential they hold for conveying new narratives and initiating social change. On Sunday, AQUATOPIA, a partner of M.E.E.R., made an appearance at Confluence in the form of colorful aquatic creatures. Among them were Felicitas Seyffert from M.E.E.R. (in a jellyfish costume), initiator Anoosh Werner, and a friend (in a fish costume).
