Together with our partner organization Canarias Conservación we have conducted and published a study on stranded cetaceans in the Canary Islands and their relation to vessel-whale collisions. The results were presented at several international workshops and conferences.
Since many years we have been cooperating with the School of Applied Science (HNE) Eberswalde, especially with the faculty of ‘Sustainable Tourism’. In addition to MEER’s participation, e.g. in project exchanges, we regularly hold guest lectures on “Whale watching worldwide” for the students.
We are working with HTW Berlin (D) on the visualisation of sighting data using GIS and on a system for the electronic recording of sighting data on Gomera.
We regularly exchange data with the Universidad de La Laguna (ES), e.g. to implement comparative studies on the cetaceans of the different Canary Islands.
